The View South

We just came back from a week in Provence.

It's hard to return to Cambridgeshire after you've been dazzled by the molten autumn colours of the provençal mountains.

Here is a picture of the bungalow we rented during our stay.

Nally and I have felt stirred, for more than a year, with the thought that God could want us to become more involved with His work in France.

The week before last, we participated in a fraternal meeting hosted by the Barnabas church which is based in Malijai, near Digne les Bains.

During our stay, I learnt some new songs. Here is a link to a fantastic web site that has lots of French worship music written by Karel Léorier from Nantes, in Western France.

The beauty of fenland areas is not easy to appreciate. Recently at the public inquiry into whether the Mereham residential development should go ahead, one of the arguments was that the countryside which would be lost was "bleak", as if bleak countryside were, of necessity, worthless countryside.

I used to clean bogs. It was great work. Good for you Pete.

I had a friend who used to professionally train people to clean lavatories.

When he tested how much they'd learnt, they were expected to draw and drink a glass of water from the bowl they'd just cleaned.

That focussed the mind enormously.

Ah! right! I don't know why I thought you lived in Normandy. Thanks for putting the record straight.
